Namecheap is another long-serving company in the web hosting business and was founded way back in 2000. They are an excellent resource for not just new domain names, but you can also bid for some existing ones as well. NameCheap also offers a good range of hosting solutions including shared, VPS, dedicated, and reseller plans. While their hosting features might not be outstanding, they are certainly adequate – especially when you consider their exceptionally low pricing.

NameCheap – Our Experiences & Findings

Performance What server speed features does NameCheap offer?

NameCheap supports CDN and Litespeed server in their lowest shared plan. Built-in caching mechanism is available in the more expensive plans.

The company publishes their server and network service status publicly, click here to visit.

Security Are websites hosted at NameCheap safe?

NameCheap excels in security, offering top-notch measures to safeguard your website. Their platform boasts features like advanced web application firewall (WAF), free SSL, daily backup, to ensure your data remains secure and your site impervious to common cyber threats.

Supports Is NameCheap customer support good?

Help at NameCheap is avaliable via phone, live chat, and email.

Value for Money Does NameCheap offer good value for its pricing?

NameCheap is very cheap when weighed against its feature offerings and long-term cost. At $1.48 per month (renews at $4.48/mo), basic shared hosting allows you to host 3 websites with 24/7 customer support, a free domain name, daily backup, and 30-days money back guarantee. Higher plans with better features like VPS starts at $6.88/mo, cloud hosting at $/mo and dedicated hosting at $59.57/mo.

Overall Users Satisfaction What other users think of NameCheap?

Overall, user feedback with Namecheap appears to be positive. Customers appreciate the excellent support and cheap services provided by the company. However, some NameCheap users have encountered choppy waters. In particular, some users are unhappy with Namecheap’s built-in website builder tool, the need for separate payments for different services, and navigating the complexities of refunds. These aspects are crucial vital points to consider when choosing your hosting plans at NameCheap.

For additional insights, please refer to the user reviews section below.

Newbies Friendliness Is NameCheap suitable for beginners?

Because of the cheap startup plans and freebies that come with Namecheap hosting, many new users may find this a strongly viable option. For less than $2 to kick off with, you get access to a very basic plan plus domain name, privacy protection, and SSL certificate. The very reasonable amount of resources offered on these plans make them viable for long-term costing as well.

Small Business Friendliness Is NameCheap suitable for small businesses?

The biggest issue that small business operators will likely face with Namecheap is in reliability. Although not horribly bad, Namecheap isn’t exactly the most outstanding when it comes to uptime and this might impact brand image for small businesses. There is a free website builder that can be used for rapid site development, but it isn’t exactly the best in the market.

Web Developers Friendliness Is NameCheap suitable for developers?

Thanks to the extra support added for developer tools, Namecheap can be a, pardon the pun, cheap platform to do some testing on. It isn’t easy to find a host that has shared web hosting plans that developers can use to run specialized-language scripts. Although from what I seem the field is widening and more choices are becoming available, for the time being, one of them is Namecheap.

Onboarding Most Namecheap services are instantaneously available upon payment. Once you’ve made your selections, payment can be made using credit/debit cards, PayPal or Bitcoin. In fact, Namecheap was among the earlier adopters of Bitcoin web hosting.

Making payment will trigger their system to send you your account details. This will contain all the information you need to get started with them.

NameCheap Plans & Pricing

NameCheap offers various hosting solutions, including Shared, VPS, Dedicated, and Reseller hosting plans. Additionally, the company also provides specialty hosting services, such as Managed WordPress, Email, and Minecraft hosting.

When evaluating your options, it’s crucial to remember that many hosting companies offer substantial discounts during the initial signup period, but the pricing often increases significantly upon renewal. You should thoroughly research and compare the renewal prices, not just the introductory rates, to understand the true cost of hosting over an extended period.

To help you make a more informed decision, we have prepared two tables below which compare the initial signup and subsequent renewal costs of NameCheap services with several other providers that we actively monitor.

  4. I use Namecheap to manage all of my personal and professional domains. A few years ago I transferred all of our domains to Namecheap and recommend it to everyone. Domain purchase and management is foreign enough for most people without having to deal with a cumbersome and clunky interface which is what I feel most other providers offer. Namecheap is easy, affordable, and does what it’s supposed to do.

  5. I know sometimes it’s not worth it to provide priority & best service for small-size clients but I only use Namecheap they provide faster & prompt service no matter what is my issue how small is the issue.
I migrated all of my services to Namecheap for this. Maria is best.

  6. Namecheap uses Zenddesk of wich I am very fond of. Namecheap really wants to help you succeed and most supportofficers really try to make the most out of your experience as a new website owner. They also provide personal requirements and options where they can and within the company profiles limits of course. An example is the ability to manage your dns from your favorite location (as long as the other host has a good reputation of course). Also they provide several options for creating websites: from Wordpress to Website builder. Security is an important aspect for me and for Namecheap as well. You can customize your security settings. One tip: Namecheap could benefit from making explanimations on the several features the provide and how to use them (I think) – but for now: if you are not a developer you can just get the assistance and answers you need by making use of the excellent Namecheap support.

  7. Someone falsely claimed a transaction on my website, threatening to report it. Within two hours, they hastily conducted a mere 10-minute investigation, solely observing their own activity on the site. Without any attempt to reach out or gather proper evidence, they abruptly suspended my website. Despite being a loyal customer for years with multiple domains, this incident marks the end of my trust in NameCheap. I’ll be seeking refunds via PayPal and severing ties with them indefinitely. Their unreliability and lack of integrity make them unfit to be trusted. Furthermore, their support is horrible.

Edit: The suspension of the hosting and domain has been lifted, restoring everything to normal. Consequently, the review has been updated. While the initial situation was unpleasant and challenging, I’m relieved and happy that it has been resolved.

  8. If not for the customer support, I would not be with namecheap. Customer support are quick to respond and very very professional. English was great and easy to communicate via chat. 10/10.

  9. Been with Namecheap a few years, now. Good service, they get back to you promptly. Sometimes they just send you a link to the appropriate Knowledge Base of theirs but it’s not always enough. Another inquiry will usually get you someone with more detailed info. That’s about the only criticism I have. Been with them about 4 years. Very pleasant to work with.

  10. Their Help Desk is the best…when I can’t remember how to do all the website SSL and other issues, they are always there to help.

I am by myself generating my blog and personal website, so sometimes these things get confusing.

They never make me feel stupid and often can do for me what I can’t seem to do alone.

  11. Been using Namecheap for years now and never had any issues they didn’t solve for me right away with customer service chats. They have very friendly support staff that have always been able to fix my issues really quick when I had any. Cheapest hosting and domain in the biz that is this much quality. I never have issues with downtime.
Also, I have been dumb and forgot to renew my domain a few times and they went WAY out of their way to recover my site so I didn’t have to rebuild it even tho it was past the grace period. So… I’m a big fan!

  15. I’m very glad my business coach recommended I use namecheap. I don’t know what other host servers are like but these guys are amazing. I am tech savvy and sometimes do some of the work myself, but if I don’t know how or don’t have time the customer support team is amazing. quick and effective. totaly satisfied customer here. been using them 5+ years

  16. I have been a customer for more than seven years. In terms of value for money, Namecheap is hard to beat. Their hosting plans are competitively priced, and they often run promotions and discounts that make them even more affordable. Plus, with features like free SSL certificates and domain privacy protection included with most plans, you’re getting excellent value for your money.

Overall, I couldn’t be happier with my experience using Namecheap for hosting. If you’re looking for a reliable hosting provider with top-notch customer support and affordable pricing, I highly recommend giving Namecheap a try.

  18. I have used Namecheap for the last several years as the sole provider for all of my domain names and WhoIs registration. I own 2 small businesses, a photography/videography company and a design company, and I have exclusively used Namecheap for my own companies domains. I also exclusively use Namecheap to purchase domains on behalf of my clients.

  20. 24/7 rapid response chat support is making me feel confident in using these services. I have a lingering fear that I am going to get technically stumped and ruin something; so having a speedy chat support won me over before I was a customer. After becoming a customer and running into a technical issue on day 2, the chat support has made me more confident that I made the right choice in this company. The mass amount of documentation, illustrated guides, and videos are also helping me gain technical wisdom daily. They’ve made me feel that anything I try, they’ll be there to help, and all I have to do is ask. I’m getting better at my job because these people are great at theirs! Thanks for your help Logananth N.!

  21. Very good value and amazing customer/technical support. I’ve never had a bad experience with the live chat technical support people, they always know their stuff and are quick to respond with proactive help 24 hours a day. Would recommend Namecheap to anyone!

  22. We have 6 domains and premium DNS servers with Namecheap. We are getting a good price for domains and their premium DNS service is also excellent. On top of that, excellent chat support when the need arises.

  23. You get what you pay for – and the clue is in the name – CHEAP. This is worrying organisation. They have this chat based support and sometimes it can take hours to fix things. If you add new services (easyWP and wordpress hosting) they might break your DNS records and not know how to fix them. It’s really frustrating. Access to the platforms could be faster because email is terribly slow if it works at all – I mean adding it to outlook as an IMAP account just would not work and they are unable to help (!).

  24. I use Namecheap to manage domain registration for a portfolio of properties. Namecheap also handles DNS for some of these domains. Where we use another DNS service Namecheap makes it simple to switch to another DNS provider. There is also very little lag time when making DNS changes, so our development processes aren’t needlessly slowed waiting for DNS updates to propogate.

Namecheap provides a simple to use and cost effective way to register and manage our domains. It’s one of those services that just works and once you have it going you never really need to worry about it again.

  25. Namecheap is a great hosting platform for simple sites and purchasing domains. Their user interface is simple and modern. Their cPanel is great and modern and using it to point DNS to the right folder is easy to follow. I use them exclusively to purchase new domains and searching for domain records. They have quick and no-nonsense support. For the price point, Namecheap is fantastic for hosting simple sites and the only domain purchaser i trust.

  26. That NameCheap chat is such a life hack! I spoke with Faina and I cannot say enough great things about the amazing support provided. For me, it was the clear communication and willingness to help reconcile a pressing issue for me. I feel like I make a great investment in Namecheap because of the support. I’ve worked with other domain providers and hosts and Namecheap is the best at this!

  27. I used these guys for many years, mostly because they don’t add a lot of crap to your cart by default when you buy a domain name. However I just had the highly dubious pleasure of buying a “premium” domain name (read domain squatting). They “forgot” to mention this is a manual process that may take up to 72 hours and require additional information so stay tuned for a Phone call! Yey. Obviously the domain has to change hands and they have to pay for it before they can fleece me. So if you are in a hurry, like most people are these days, stay away from any “premium” domains. I only bought it because a client insisted.

  29. Horrible, there was a miscom and they erroneously charge my credit and refuse to refund the money back. The customer service lady, Diana F., was not compromising and refused to assist me on the refund. i went past the 120hour refund period by an hour and they said that’s why they refused to refund, when it was actually their fault all the while. i will never use namecheap again.

  31. Every time I’ve asked for help with my domains or the private email, and Namecheap support has been quick, professional, and very thorough in their support. It has been a delight working with every one of the support employees over the years.

  32. Barebones cheap products backed my minimal service that kept on passing me off because “chat agents” didn’t know how to do something. Then DNS records started disappearing. Wouldn’t offer refund. Wasted money and time!

  33. First they will suspend your account under the guise of “resource abuse” without even speaking to you.
Then they will blackmail you to upgrade.
If you decide not to they won’t provide a backup of your account unless you pay for it. The blackmail continues.
And they will steal your domains too if you registered them with the company. They stole mine: altneu.me
Liars and thieves, that’s what they are.

    No, Not Recommended
  34. Namecheap has good prices for their products but the standout for me is that they have always provided stellar customer service…despite me having just a handful of domains.
They will take care of the tech side if you ask for their help. I know most of the time I could muddle my way through the technical details of say re-issuing an SSL certificate but they make it easy and will guide you or even do it for you. Something complex and frankly bewildering is made simple and easy.

I have never felt the need to leave namecheap and that’s only down to the fact that when I need someone to solve my problem .. there is always someone available to chat. And not just that … all their agents are knowledgeable and professional.

there is no way I am going back to godaddy or anywhere else as long as I can access the chat agents who do a wonderful job!

  39. I recently had to reach out to Namecheap’s support team twice, and I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised by the experience. Both times, they were quick to respond and incredibly helpful. What stood out to me the most was how friendly and understanding everyone was. It’s not often you find support staff who actually seem to care about your issue, but Namecheap’s team definitely did.

Their responses were prompt, and they didn’t waste any time getting to the bottom of the problem. What could have been a frustrating experience turned out to be quite painless, thanks to their efficiency. Plus, it was refreshing to deal with people who were polite and patient throughout the process.

Overall, I was really impressed with Namecheap’s support. They helped me out when I needed it, and they did it with a smile (figuratively speaking, of course). If you’re looking for a domain seller with solid support, I’d definitely recommend giving Namecheap a try.
