InMotion Hosting Pros & Cons

InMotion Hosting Pros

  • Affordable entry pricing
  • Developer stack on all shared hosting plans (Python/Node/Ruby, Git, SSH)
  • Built-in hack, DDoS, and malware protection
  • Long 90-day money back guarantee refund window (best in market)
  • Free SSL, email, and site migration

InMotion Hosting Cons

  • Lower shared hosting plans lack advanced speed features
  • Higher renewal rates across shared, VPS, and reseller plans
  • No Asia-based data center

InMotion Hosting, founded in 2001 by Sunil Saxena and Todd Robinson in Los Angeles, has grown into a well-established U.S. hosting provider. Built by industry veterans, the company emphasizes reliable infrastructure, practical features, and customer-friendly support.

Is InMotion Hosting a good web host?

InMotion Hosting Review - Website Screenshot

Yes, based on our experience, InMotion Hosting is a good pick for buyers who want U.S.-based support, NVMe-backed plans, and clear upgrade paths.

The shared hosting lineup spans Core, Launch, Power, Pro, with most tiers using NVMe storage (Core uses SSD), unmetered bandwidth, free SSL, free email, free domain, and free site migration. The Pro tier advertises higher resource allocations (listed as 2 vCPU/4GB RAM) and agency perks, while Launch/Power raise storage (100–300GB NVMe) and site limits. For web developers, InMotion supports Python, Node.js, Ruby, Git, SSH, and cPanel/Softaculous on all shared plans — a builder-friendly stack uncommon at this price point — plus WAF, DDoS, and malware protection.

InMotion Hosting performance is steady rather than chart-topping (currently rank #4 at HostScore), and there’s no Asia-based data center. However, the blend of tools, 90-day money-back guarantee, and easy upgrades to VPS and dedicated makes it a growth-friendly choice for North American small businesses and content sites.

How reliable is InMotion Hosting’s uptime and speed?

InMotion Hosting ensures consistent uptime and stable speeds across its hosting plans. From our past test sites, we recorded uptime well above 99.9%, with no significant interruptions over extended monitoring. Their use of NVMe SSD storage on most plans accelerates database queries and file reads, while optimized server configurations keep response times competitive in the U.S. market.

InMotion doesn’t top speed charts against cloud-native rivals, but its reliability is the key advantage: pages load predictably, traffic spikes don’t crash the server, and VPS instances scale resources smoothly. For businesses that prioritize steady performance over volatile peaks, InMotion ranks as one of the more stable providers we’ve hosted with.

Does InMotion Hosting keep your websites secure?

Yes, InMotion Hosting keeps websites safe with layered security. In our years of hosting test sites, we never encountered breaches or malware issues. The platform includes two-factor authentication (2FA) logins, free SSL certificates, a Web Application Firewall (WAF) on all shared plans, and DDoS protection for both shared and VPS environments. Daily malware scans run automatically, and account isolation prevents cross-contamination between users.

InMotion also provides free automated backups on higher shared plans and paid add-ons for entry tiers, making recovery straightforward if something goes wrong. For VPS and dedicated customers, the optional Premier Care tier adds another layer of protection with Monarx security, priority support handling, and 300GB of backup storage — positioning it closer to a managed security package for business-critical deployments.

How helpful is InMotion Hosting’s customer support?

InMotion Hosting’s customer support has treated us fairly over the years. Their technical team is knowledgeable, quick to respond, and capable of handling both beginner and advanced issues. Beyond live help through call back request and live chat, the company maintains a comprehensive knowledge base with step-by-step tutorials, which makes it easier to troubleshoot on your own. For users who value accessible, U.S.-based assistance, InMotion’s support remains one of its stronger points.

Is InMotion Hosting’s pricing worth the value?

InMotion Hosting’s pricing is competitive, though its structure differs from most rivals. Unlike many other budget hosting providers, which push 3-year lock-ins for the lowest advertised rate, InMotion actually gives you the cheapest price at one year. For example, the Launch plan starts at $4.59/mo with a 12-month term, compared to $4.99/mo if you commit for 3 years. Refer to screenshot below – upper half of the image shows the signup pricing for 1-year subscription, the lower half shows pricing for 3-year subscription. This unusual model benefits users who don’t want to prepay for long contracts — but once the term ends, renewal rates climb sharply (shared hosting plans renews at14.99 – 25.99/mo).

InMotion Hosting Shared Plans Pricing Strategy

On VPS and dedicated hosting, InMotion recently introduced lower-cost entry plans that make it easier for users to test the waters without committing too much upfront. VPS plans start at $4.99/mo (renews $13.99) for 2 vCPUs and 4GB RAM, which remains more generous than typical entry VPS offers from SiteGround or Bluehost. Dedicated servers now also include an affordable entry tier, while higher-level users can opt for “Custom” builds or upgrade to “Premier Care.” The Premier Care tier bundles priority support, Monarx security protection, and 300GB of backup storage — positioning it more toward businesses that need added performance assurance and managed services.

When compared to market norms:

  • Shared hosting: Higher renewal than budget players like Hostinger, but InMotion adds more resources and U.S.-based support.
  • VPS hosting: More flexible than before — affordable entry plans for testing, with scalable Custom and Premier Care tiers for growing projects.
  • Dedicated hosting: Entry pricing lowers the barrier to entry, while Premier Care adds managed-level benefits (priority support, Monarx security, 300GB backups).

Overall, InMotion Hosting offers better short-term value if you sign up annually, but the higher renewals mean it’s less appealing for budget-conscious users in the long run. The real value, from what we see, lies in its VPS and dedicated plans, where the new entry tiers improve accessibility while the Custom and Premier Care options provide a clearer upgrade path for serious users.

What do users think about InMotion Hosting?

InMotion Hosting receives generally positive reviews in the market, which aligns more closely with what we’ve experienced at HostScore. It is currently rated 4.5 out of 5 on Trustpilot across more than 2,600 reviews (see screenshot below), which reflects strong overall customer satisfaction. From the user feedback we’ve collected, the majority of respondents say they would recommend InMotion, particularly citing its responsive U.S.-based support and dependable uptime. While no provider is immune to complaints – most commonly around renewal pricing or occasional support wait times during peak periods – the broader sentiment leans favorable.

Is InMotion Hosting a good option for beginners?

InMotion Hosting is an excellent choice for newbies and bloggers. Its wide range of plans, reasonable fees, and a solid 90-day money-back guarantee offer great flexibility and low risk for newbies who are hosting their website for the first time. Additionally, the availability of specialized WordPress hosting solutions makes it particularly appealing for those starting out in the blogging sphere.

Is InMotion Hosting a good choice for small businesses?

Yes, InMotion Hosting suits small businesses that want dependable hosting with hands-on help. The company offers U.S.-based support, stable uptime, and a clear upgrade path from shared to VPS or dedicated servers (now with lower-cost entry plans that make scaling less intimidating for growing teams).

Beyond its core hosting plans, the company also provides website design, rebuild, SEO services, and maintenance plans. This one-stop approach can be valuable for business owners who prefer to manage hosting, site design, and ongoing upkeep under the same provider. For businesses that require more advanced support, VPS and dedicated customers can opt for Premier Care, which adds priority support, Monarx security, and 300GB backup storage. Combined with U.S.-based support, free backups on higher tiers, and a 90-day money-back guarantee, InMotion offers a business-friendly package that reduces the need to juggle multiple vendors.

For budgeting, InMotion prices the 1-year term lower than multi-year. That helps SMBs avoid long lock-ins, but note that renewals jump after the first term. Value adds like free SSL, email, domain options, backups, and free migrations lower total setup cost and risk.

InMotion Web Services Page

Is InMotion Hosting suitable for web developers?

InMotion Hosting is suitable for developers who prefer a traditional but flexible hosting environment. Even on shared plans, the company supports Python, Node.js, Ruby, and Git version control, which makes it easier to build and deploy custom applications. SSH access and staging tools (via Softaculous) are also available on higher tiers, giving developers the control they need without moving to VPS immediately. While the stack may feel more conventional than modern container-based setups, it remains a solid choice for developers who want reliable infrastructure with familiar tools.

Can you host custom email with InMotion Hosting?

Yes, you can host your own email accounts with InMotion Hosting. This significantly reduces your costs by eliminating the need for expensive third-party email services.

How easy is it to get started with InMotion Hosting?

Signing up and getting on board with InMotion can be a tiny bit frustrating in two senses. The first is that there are simply too many options to choose from (which is a good thing). The second is that your account isn’t activated instantly, and you’ll have to wait a while to start using what you sign up for.

Does InMotion Hosting offer a free trial or refund guarantee?

Yes, InMotion Hosting offers a 90-day free trial period. If you are not satisfied with their services for any reason, you can cancel within this period and receive a full refund.

What features does InMotion Hosting include?

Which control panel does InMotion Hosting use?

InMotion Hosting uses cPanel as its main hosting control panel. cPanel manages domains, email accounts, databases, and backups from one interface. Most users find it familiar and easy to navigate, which makes onboarding smoother if you’ve hosted elsewhere before.

That said, cPanel has seen regular price hikes since its acquisition, and hosting providers often pass these costs down to customers. If you’re on a VPS or reseller plan, keep in mind that your monthly bill may rise as license fees increase.

Where are InMotion Hosting’s servers located?

InMotion Hosting operates servers in Los Angeles (CA), Ashburn (VA), and Amsterdam (Netherlands). Hosting on both U.S. coasts reduces response time for North American visitors, while Amsterdam improves performance for European audiences.

Unlike many competitors, InMotion also shares detailed information about its facilities — including building size, security measures, power sources, connectivity, and certifications. That transparency helps buyers understand the reliability behind each location.

If your audience is global, pairing InMotion’s servers with a CDN helps deliver consistent performance worldwide.

Does InMotion Hosting scale well with traffic spikes?

InMotion Hosting offers a variety of plans, but scalability under spike conditions varies by tier. Their shared hosting has limited headroom: I/O speed limits at 1024 MB/s (not even half of what Hostinger offer) and inodes per account at just 50,000 (too little).

For serious traffic bursts, we highly recommend users to rely on VPS, dedicated, or UltraStack servers. These higher tiers include dedicated CPU, high RAM (up to 32 GB), and NVMe SSD storage, providing the muscle to handle traffic surges smoothly. InMotion also handles peak traffic via smart routing, redundant network infrastructure, and DDoS mitigation so your sites don’t go down during heavy load events. Combined, these features make InMotion reliable for seasonal spikes or campaign-driven surges, provided users are on the appropriate higher-level plan.

How does InMotion Hosting handle backups and restores?

InMotion Hosting provides standard daily backups and safe application rollbacks via cPanel. For added flexibility, it also offers the Backup Manager plugin ($2.50 per month), which allows customers to generate and restore full, partial, or individual file backups. The plugin also enables setting custom retention periods and backup generation schedules — useful for businesses that want more control over their backup policies.

Does InMotion Hosting include free domain and SSL?

InMotion Hosting’s free-domain policy varies by plan. A free domain name is included with its mid-tier and higher shared plans, but not with the entry-level package.

Every site hosted with InMotion Hosting includes a free SSL certificate, ensuring encrypted connections and baseline site security at no extra cost. This saves users both the expense and the hassle of purchasing and configuring SSL separately.

Does InMotion Hosting offer free website migration?

Yes, InMotion Hosting offers free website migration. The migration service transfers your files, databases, and email accounts from your old host to InMotion Hosting without extra cost. This saves time for beginners and reduces the risk of errors when switching providers. Free migration is especially useful if you run WordPress, WooCommerce, or other CMS-based sites that require careful handling.

How much does InMotion Hosting cost?

InMotion Hosting offers a range of web hosting plans designed to meet the needs of different users, including Shared, VPS, Dedicated, Cloud, and Reseller Hosting. The company also offers specialty services such as Managed WordPress, Email, and Game Server Hosting.

InMotion Hosting Plans & Pricing

Hosting Type Signup Price Renewal Price
Shared Hosting $4.59 – $10.59/mo $14.99 – $25.99/mo
VPS Hosting $4.99 – $110.49/mo $13.99 – $187.49/mo
Dedicated Hosting $35 – $419.98/mo $49.99 – $439.98/mo
Cloud Hosting $6 – $224/mo $6 – $224/mo
WordPress Hosting $33.33 – $100/mo $12.99 – $37.99/mo

Note: Because hosting fees change regularly, always confirm the latest InMotion Hosting prices on the official site before signing up..

What is InMotion Hosting’s refund and cancellation policy?

InMotion Hosting provides a 90-day money-back guarantee for most plans. To cancel, users need to disable auto-renew and submit a cancellation request via the Account Management Panel (AMP). Any services that have been paid for in advance will remain active until the current term expires.

If immediate cancellation is required, users can contact customer service directly. Refunds do not apply to domain registration fees or additional services. Data backup is recommended before cancellation.

Final verdict: Should you choose InMotion Hosting?

InMotion Hosting is a steady, U.S.-based provider that prioritizes reliability and support over flashy marketing. It appeals strongly to American users thanks to its Virginia and California data centers and a customer support team that operates locally.

The host doesn’t win on the lowest pricing or fastest global speeds, but it makes up for it with practical features like free SSL, email, backups, and NVMe SSD storage across most plans. Its broad lineup, from shared to VPS to dedicated servers, offers a clear upgrade path, making it suitable for long-term use without switching providers.

Our testing shows stable uptime and decent performance, enough for business websites, professional blogs, and mid-sized eCommerce projects. The user interface feels a bit traditional compared to newer competitors, but the overall experience is straightforward and backed by helpful support.

If you value dependability, U.S.-based assistance, and room to scale your projects, InMotion Hosting remains a safe, well-rounded choice.

User Reviews of InMotion Hosting

The staff at tech support was very patient and guided my through the entire process. We needed to migrate a couple of back-ups to a new server.

  2. Yes, Recommended

IMH has a lot to like: capable servers, reasonable pricing, friendly and reasonably competent Level 1 support available 24×7. These are key ingredients for good managed dedicated servers. What separates IMH from greatness are the things that matter when your clients/ workloads are vital.

Datacenter (DC) staff is generally only available 9am-9pm M-F (and not always then due to staffing shortages) regardless of critical hardware failure. IMH doesn’t really seem to be bothered when a server goes offline for hours and DC staff will only communicate with Level 1 support (who act as buffers in getting any useful information or accountability). You will NEVER speak with a manager, irrespective of how reasonable your request and egregious the problem. Zero accountability. Note: I have reduced my rating by 1 star based on a disk issue that has been ongoing for a month (something I have never experienced with any other host).

I have used a number of hosting companies over 20+ years in the industry. With consolidation, reliability seems to be generally in decline (and I hoped I had found a dependable provider with IMH), but in just a few months with IMH I have experienced more downtime than other hosts I was with for years. This review is based on experience with CC-3000, CC-4000, and Extreme dedicate server offerings.

Incredible service as always by inmotion hosting! All issues were resolved fast.

  4. Yes, Recommended

The support from start to finish is the best I have ever had with a company. Their technicians are well trained and knowledgeable. As a reseller, moving companies is always our biggest challenge. Robert J made my anxiety about this move go away. He was very responsive, answered all of my questions regarding my migration, everything is working flawlessly. Thanks again Robert J.

  5. Managed VPS Services so-so (lots of unexplained downtime). Prices are bit high. Support is 50/50 — often with a completely unhelpful T1 support person, but the next can be very helpful (hit or miss). Sometimes the live chat DC’s which means waiting around for the next support person (usually long wait times as well). Overall the services of Inmotion have declined over the years imo, while their prices go up… Have been a customer for over a decade yet as of late looking at alternatives for some of our VPS/server solutions. Hope to see things improve though…

5 years of using InMotion for my website hosting has brought me to a point where I can confidently make an informed evaluation of their service. I believe they are the “Best out There”. In the beginning, I knew very little about hosting websites and there were many calls to support for help, they were always there for me to answer some of the most basic questions and fix things that I had broken. I would recommend them to anyone new at this and if you are in the business you will truly appreciate how great their service is. 5 out of 5 stars without question, I could not survive without them.

  7. Yes, Recommended

I just finished a chat with Ben C in Technical Support. I tried to leave a review after the chat ended but I think I clicked on something wrong and was unable to complete the review. Ben C was awesome, he was SO helpful and SO thorough. This was by far the best experience I have had with InMotion. I have had helpful reps in the past, but Ben C went above and beyond. I was so lost when I started the chat and by the end, I learned so much and am far more comfortable with my situation. He did a really great job and is an asset to InMotion support!

  8. Yes, Recommended

Tech support has always been phenomenal. Everyone is polite, professional, explains things, and is thorough. Wait time is usually fairly short or they’ll call you when it’s your turn. Some techs will even help with non-IMH programs.

  9. No, Not Recommended

The sever is a few times a day for the past months, and then when you ask why they just say that it’s a known issues (don’t get the Amsterdam server).
Then I ask to move the server location, they did that but the app is not working at all, I need to destroy it and make the setup again. When I asked the technical support what was the reason for that, they just say that the app is at fault (even if it was working 1 hour before the hosting transfer).
This is the worse hosting service I have ever got.

  10. No, Not Recommended

I moved my website sheeplethegame.com from NameCheap’s Stellar WordPress hosting to InMotionHosting’s $260 / yr plan because the web reviews said it is much faster. It was so complicated, I had to pay an additional $199 to pay for their team to port it over. Their system is so complicated. After the huge hassle and cost, it actually runs slower! And they’re refusing to refund my money. I DO NOT RECOMMEND, and I believe their positive reviews are fake. (I would recommend NameCheap over InMotionHosting, having used both.)

  11. Yes, Recommended

Your survey form wouldn’t allow a 5 star choice of rating. Prices are competitive. The range of integrated technologies is first class. Down time is almost zero. Inmotion’s support is second to none. The technicians are knowledgeable and always find a solution in a very short time. All these things and more make Inmotion widely considered to be the world’s best web host.

  12. Yes, Recommended

    Excellent service and support!

I’ve been using hosted websites since the Internet began and InMotion Hosting is one of the best!

  13. Yes, Recommended

The technical support staff has been very responsive, helpful and courteous each time I have need their help. For example: “Ian helped me in detail on moving development environment into my production environment without any issues. He was very patient and knowledgeable and was extremely helpful!!”

  14. Yes, Recommended

I had two calls to support – they were both excellent. I must say, though, that I have already given reviews through inmotionhosting website the same day that I spoke with your service representatives, yet I keep getting requests to post a review…

  15. Yes, Recommended

InMotion Hosting’s service is CONSISTENTLY excellent!!! I am NOT a website builder, yet I operate 4 websites, and as I need help from time to time, their staff is ALWAYS excellent, easily reachable by chat, and when I have multiple issues, they stay with me until each one is fully resolved, which is commonly over 1 hour.

This is AMAZING in a world in which personalized service is, at times, not even available, and when it is it is, at times, lacking.

  16. Yes, Recommended

I have been using InMotion Hosting for almost 10 years now, and never had any significant problem. Of course, sometimes it can happen a website to go down for some reason, but then you have their live chat which literally always have solved my problems within minutes or let’s say half an hour.
So, overall, great performance and superior support through their live chat.

  17. No, Not Recommended

Access to my websites is often timed out. I have a business to do! Usually, I can regain access on a different device or using a different vpn server, but that does me no good when I’m out and only have one device. iOS usually works- have fun page building on an iPad!

  18. Yes, Recommended

I’m very happy with InMotion, but reading what the content of the review should be – actual experience – I don’t recall the last one and unable to provide a specific date. But, when I needed to change my password, they pointed me in the right direction. When my blog needed attention (wasn’t loading) the problem was quickly solved. I’ve been with InMotion for about 10 years, and I’m not going anywhere else.

  19. Yes, Recommended

Very little down time. Best thing is back up service. Problems are always dealt with immediately and effectively. I find Inmotion faultless, and that’s prbably why they are recognized as one of the best web hosts in the world.

  20. No, Not Recommended

After two years of service, I regret to inform you that my experience with your hosting services has been less than satisfactory. The lack of efficient communication channels, particularly the extended wait times to reach the support team via phone and live chat, has been a significant pain point. (Minimum of an hour of waiting to get a support rep)

Recently, I encountered a critical issue where three days of my database were lost during a migration process. Despite my repeated attempts to contact your support team, I have yet to receive a satisfactory resolution for this incident.

Well, it was escalated. That’s about it.
Gosh! If you have a business that requires 24/7 availability, please run away.

  21. Yes, Recommended

The service is up 24/7 and extremely affordable. After many years of hosting our Church website, it’s rock solid reliable and always has been.

Please Stay Away From This Horrible Web Hosting Company!

I believe this is one of the worst hosting ever!

I have purchased their pro package 2 months ago and shifted my website here.

After this i never have a single day with peace of mind because there is always an issue with my hosting.

    Support Team!

Their technical support team have zero knowledge of their own hosting. I discussed my issues with them many times and each time they have a lame excuse.

I’m fed up and i want to shift my website to an other hosting. I have wasted my money.

  24. Yes, Recommended

This company is SUPERIOR. They’ve earned all caps. Their pricing is reasonable; their hosting is VERY reliable and MOST importantly – when tech support is needed (any hour of day or night), they are PROMPT and go ABOVE AND BEYOND

  25. Yes, Recommended

I have been with InMotion Hosting for 15 years. In that time, I have received exemplary technical support, great performance, and remarkable uptime. I’m very pleased with the service I receive.

  26. No, Not Recommended

Worst hosting I’ve ever encountered. Don’t know where to begin even…
Made a purchase and tried to log in, then they say “wrong user or password and that captcha needs to be completed, which it was.
Then I contact customer service who only say there’s no account in that name.
Then they say payment is voided, whatever that means, it’s still a transaction made on my side.
AND they blame me for their fck up(!)
And also blame me for not knowing what mail I used…… Even though I’m sure and have a received mail from them doing the purchase he keeps blaming me for not knowing or mistyping (as they can’t have any issues I guess..)
Instead of solving the issue with all their issues on the site (which are alot!) he closes the chat and when I’m opening it again another comes who doesn’t do anything, but the history repeats. I think it’s the same person wroth another which tell me to act professionally when I ask if there’s someone with pubic around as I’ve only been in contact with kids but he’s also just a being a parrot that repeats “there’s no account in that name” to leave the chat and bring in someone else who can’t even read the previous messages (as nothing here works and maintained by kids without any competency.)

DO NOT EVEN CONSIDER USING THIS SERVICE – FOR GOD’S SAKE!!
They lost thousands of dollars a month treating me like shìt and not lifting a finger to solve THEIR issues anyway…
Do yourself a huge favor and use ANY other provider❗
Edit: I have no desire to mail that incompetent customer service again. I’ve also moved my business to another great provider who aren’t 15 years old and have a good site, great servers and super customer service!

I have been with InMotion hosting for nearly ten (10) years and have hosted numerous websites on this vendor.

Have always had 100% professional, positive, and quick service from technical support. Never had an issues that was not resolved during my conversation with the technical support representative.

I highly recommend InMotion Hosting over the numerous web hosting sites I have researched and “toyed-around” with using!

Long term lousy service; russian hackers used my bandwidth, no help from support for passwords not working, all the c-panel ISP block filters failed, website routinely disappeared, third world support don’t speak understandable english and support email responses are nonspecific canned garbage, difficult domain transfer. Over charged for the basic web hosting – they are just resellers for Tucows. They just sit back and fools like me send them money for overpriced Tucows web hosting.

InMotion does an excellent job at providing approachable infrastructure and tools for running websites. For my business, they offer a click-to-setup WordPress infrastructure that includes ongoing upgrades and backups.

In contrast to the other big web-service platforms… InMotion is far superior a many ways. Just one example is that I don’t have to figure out what or how these other service providers decided to rename what are otherwise well-known services. For example, “EC2” vs “virtual machine”. Or, “Beanstalk” for something as simple as a WordPress deployment script.

  34. No, Not Recommended

One big problem with InMotion hosting is that they only offer outdated/obsolete and useless CentOs 7 as a sole OS. There is no choice of selecting OS through AMP. They change OS on your request but if you rest through Re-Os cloud server, you are again with CentOs 7. On the other hand, competitors offer choices in better and far professional way.

“We have been using InMotion hosting services for more than 10 years and we have always had excellent service, both in the operation of the servers and in Technical Support. About the operation of the servers: The online times of the services are very good. We have always easily migrated to their latest generation plans and the number of services available, both for resellers and end users, is excellent. WordPress sites also have very good optimization. On the technical support side: They are a very dedicated team, very friendly and very knowledgeable, always concerned about somehow resolving my requirements and especially emergencies. I am very grateful, because we make an excellent team to provide first-class service to my clients.”

We are using it for website hosting. Unfortunately, in my opinion, it is extremely sub par. We wanted to upgrade to their VPS services as this seemed like a great choice and USUALLY staying with your hosting company makes everything easier.

BOY WAS I WRONG. Its been nothing but a mess. Sales said migration was included. Haha, joke on me, included int he fact that I can migrate the site myself, they won’t help at all. Then their platform i is extremely broken. In my experience, it is buggy, and doesn’t work as it should, and their support articles that their chat people love to send you are incomplete.

In my experience, the support team gets snarky with you fast, loves to push you to billing (so yes, they seem cheaper then much better options like Cloudways but in the end they are actually way more expensive because of the time it takes to deal with their support, bad UI/UX and bugs).

I do not recommend any one use this company. We have got a malware attack on a plugin, we have had issues logging into both our account as well as the cpanel and to top it all off, their support is basically non existent. I have emailed explaining we cant get in and they reply with a ticket where we have to log in to view it but are still locked out. I send more emails begging for a response via email and No replies. DO NOT USE THIS HOST PROVIDER. I will be changing to a different host. I now cannot even get into the wordpress admin as Ive got a fatal error. So I am now screwed. I am going to have to sign up with some one else and completely rebuild our domain. I am very angry about this, not one issue but 4 unresolved with NO response. Id like to know if its possible to lodge a complaint with some consumer guarantees act organization and have some sort of accountability for this.

Lately, every time I call, there are 10 callers ahead of me. Also, I have outstanding tickets more than a week old and no response. Technical support availability has been dramatically curtailed. It used to be available with little wait or tickets were responded to within 24-48 hours. No more. I am disappointed.

I work with inmotionhosting VPS for around a decade and until this year had no problems. So why 3 stars… …because of the support, but not that the support was not knowledgeable, they are amazing and do a great job… but… 48 hours to respond to a ticket. I know CEO’s think they’re smart and downsizing and cutting people off from support, but hope this does not come a bite you in the…

I always get such amazing support with InMotion. Over 10 years and every single experience has been top-notch. Thanks for all your help!

We recently moved several business sites from another major provider. Our prior provider was once very good but their offerings and support have remained static for a few years. InMotion supports more current web features at competitive prices. We pride ourselves on needing very little support help, but of course when we do need it it’s critical. We needed it during our migration, in part because the old provider had some “customized” (i.e. not transferable) DNS records in our sites. InMotion was there quickly and skillfully to resolve migration issues. Their support stands out as the best in the industry.

  45. I have a new InMotion hosting account and need to transfer my existing website to it from another company. 46 hours ago now I raised a ticket with Tech Support asking if they would action the advertised “Free cPanel Backup import” so that I can get up and running. 46 hours later and all I’ve received is the usual initial acknowledgment of my request. Given support is supposedly available “365 24/7” this seems a very, very long time. I’m now beginning to regret the move although I suspect that (if I can ever get up and running!) the actual hosting service will be fine, it’s just avoiding the need for any help or support.

WordPress hosting got bad at the end of 2023.
The downtime was more than 2 days in December.
    In December-January, regular site downtimes.
Uptime has already dropped to 98.8% according to my estimates.
Paid for several years in advance, but have to move to another hosting.

I refer my VPS and shared hosting clients to InMotion.

IN Motion Hosting is a Corrupt and Blackballing Company towards customers who pay for low grade shared hosting services. Four years ago I started with this company and many of you might know, all hosting companies are generally the same when you sign up and pay its for “shared hosting” you expect as a customer to get what you pay for not be betrayed by the company…READ IT ALL FOR YOURSELF!!

So far, the service has been good. The domain got configured and the cPanel is easy to use. But it takes a while for the chat agent to answer if you need something done because they are flooded with support tickets (makes me wonder why so many problems). The prices are reasonable. But beware… once you get their hosting services, you will get flooded with phone calls from Tucows (their domain registration provider) and various web designers trying to sell services. Today alone, I have received no fewer than 10 phone calls and various text messages.

I frequently recommend inmotion to other consultants, the price is reasonable and the service is outstanding when I do need to call in for any help – which is rare.

“InMo Techs Rock!! We have been with them for over 10 years and they have always gone above and beyond to solve any issue. I have several clients on two vps servers and they are great to walk me through the fix so I learn and can grow in my knowledge of how to handle some of the issues myself. They offer support via ticket or chat 24/7, which is good for many issues…but I really appreciate the phone access when I have an issue that needs immediate attention, they respond promptly & professionally. The best hosting company I have found in my 25+ years of webhosting!

Earlier there support was good & an agent remains available to solve your query. Now the support chat doesn’t work & it goes into articles which is insane , then why these people charge separately for support. I have a billing related query & still not be able to connect with support since half an hour online on chatbot. Do they expect us to remain online 24 hrs to get our query gets resolved?

I was looking for a new web hosting service and mistakenly went for InMotion Hosting.

After checking with their sales agent how ‘easy’ the transfer process was, and how 24/7 the support is, I went ahead on a 1 year offer (incidentally, they’ll get you for $60 and increase it to $200+ on renewal).

As soon as I signed up, I contacted support and all they did was send me a link and told me that help transferring would cost $199.

On trying to facilitate the transfer myself, their phpmyadmin page with the new database I created kept consistently crashing – it would either freeze, or when I clicked my new database to import the file, it froze at that point.

So I try to do it myself and can’t even get past the first hurdle because of their buggy platform. Anyone would think they want customers to pay the $199

Requested a full refund less than 2 hours after signing up. Just a shame I can’t invoice them for my wasted time, should have kept on scrolling.

Due to very bad customer support I verbally cancelled my subscription within the 90 day money back guarantee. I was told the money would be refunded in 3-5 business days. It is now into the 7th business day and nothing has been refunded. I don’t like this kind of “money back” guarantee that does not honestly take care of the issue.

InMotion has provided consistent, through-the-roof quality service. Their responses are quick, their service team is knowledgeable, no matter what the issue they’re on top of it.

I moved to InMotion Hosting from one of the large providers in the past. In contrast, InMotion Hosting has provided amazing rapid customer service. They answer questions quickly and completely, and they are pleasant to deal with. Would never return to any of the huge companies for services. Very pleased with the switch.

I have been with InMotion Hosting for many years and what set them apart from other hosting companies was their exceptional phone support. As of late I have had to wait 3 to 4 hours for help. The recording always states that there are more than ten customers in the queue ahead of me. After being on hold for a while, they asked if I wanted to be placed on the call back list. So, I tried that. That does not work any better. Now they have lost that coveted edge they had over their competitors. It is disappointing.
Update: called today at 3:30pm waiting for call back, now 8:00pm

Worst hosting ever. I purchased there launch plan December after that maximum time hosting has problem and very low resource also. I contact them many times via live chat and ticket, I have proof. Also support is totally gurbase. Recently I asked them to refund my money they refund only 4$ instatde of 24$. TOTALLY LOSS MONEY AND STAY WITH THEM.

Servers were very very slow and sluggish, seem to be really oversubscribed on the current hardware configuration. We popped some test sites up and trying to configure them through the control panel was near on impossible. Page loading times are abysmal even on pages with normal static content. All in all we found this hosting solution extremely poor in terms of performance so we moved to a proper hosting company within 2 days.

If you have a simple wordpress website, Inmotion will probably work for you but, if you’ve got a mission critical site, think long and hard.
You get 2 hrs free support to get your site up and to be sure that isn’t even nearly enough and you’ll pay $90/hr after that and they are slow to respond and slow to catch on to what you need. It can get worse.
Even if they have hardware or “technical” problems on your server/site, expect to pay to find out what is the problem and don’t expect any estimates on when it will be fixed.
And, the salesman will shmooze your into oblivion until that 30 day money day back period has expired. But, he’ll forget your name after that.
You’ll also discover the left and right hands don’t communicate. Today, I experienced outright outages of my website and it took an hour for the tech support agent to discover that it was a bad JSNode that had been bad for over 24 hours and hadn’t yet been fixed. Expect your site to go down from time to time and no one has any idea of why or when it will get fixed. But, you’ll have to pay for that information. And, they have lots of excuses as to why you should pay.
    Beware.

I have been a member of InMotion Hosting since 2017 and have used several hosting providers before finding my footing with them.

The services provided by ImMotion Hosting have consistently exceeded my expectations -it just ran- without a hitch.

However, in the few instances I did require assistance, the team demonstrated professionalism, approachability and quickly resolved my queries.

This experience solidifies my trust in your commitment to excellence, service, and value. Without a doubt, my journey with InMotion Hosting has been exemplary. I encourage the continuation of your commendable practices as they are genuinely praiseworthy.

Moved to InMotion Hosting after 17 years with another host. My plan included Chat Support, which I was leary of. However, my two sites were migrated, including emails, etc. and were up and running within hours, all via Chat Support. I never would have expected things to be up and running within such a short time. The Hosting/Migration charges were also a much better deal. I highly recommend InMotion Hosting. I received better service and quicker service than I ever experienced with my previous host.

Our business emails start rejecting emails from our regular customers. Called support, find out they just implemented a spam software, was told either to upgrade to dedicated server for up $450 per year or cancel the service, they cannot do anything about it.
If I can switch, I will do it in a second. cannot receiving emails from customers is unthinkable.

They used to be a great hosting provider. I’ve been with them around a decade, I’ve already paid ahead of time and no longer rely on them as something for production environments, when my time is up I will likely migrate the rest of my projects elsewhere. This last week alone, my sites and others I manage from different accounts have been down twice, and in the process have had between 3-5 hour wait times to get any time of tech support response (while their sales lines were answered in moments). The servers themselves have been overall pretty decent, but if you are looking for reasonable support times for technical issues I’d look elsewhere.

I am actually writing a comparison review of the major hosting providers for a popular online magazine. I am comparing the Provisioning steps for both VPS and Web Apps.

I have reviewed ten so far. I am including how difficult it is to cancel the service. InMotion requires you to call their Sales office.
